Search results are littered with stale discount percentages, and a nonprofit that plans a budget around an outdated blog post wastes exactly the time this guide is meant to save. Vendor nonprofit pages are the only source that is accountable for being current — our added value is the checklist and sequencing, which do not go stale. The checkable fact behind the search interest: nonprofit-specific AI programs exist across the major vendors, including dedicated nonprofit pricing and training initiatives; verify the specifics where you apply.
The claiming checklist
Determination letter (or local-equivalent charitable registration) as a PDF, current address matching your records.
A profile with the validation service your target vendors use (TechSoup and Percent cover most) — one registration, many programs.
An org-owned email domain and admin account — programs attach to the organization, and tools on personal accounts become hostages at turnover.
A shortlist of two or three workflows the discounted tools would serve, so free tiers get used rather than collected.
After the discounts are claimed
Run the sequencing in the fundraising guide: one workflow, review gates, a one-page policy. If a workflow resists three honest attempts, that is what a scoping call is for — and arriving with discounts claimed and attempts made makes any consultant's scope smaller and cheaper, ours included.
Discount questions
Which AI vendors offer nonprofit discounts?
The pattern across the industry: major productivity and AI vendors run nonprofit programs — Google and Microsoft have long-standing nonprofit offerings, and AI vendors including Anthropic (Claude) and others have nonprofit pricing or programs that search interest confirms people are finding. We deliberately do not print current percentages or terms here: these programs change, and the only trustworthy source is the vendor's own nonprofit page on the day you apply. This guide is the method for finding and claiming them.
What do we need before applying?
Your determination letter (501(c)(3) in the US or local equivalent), and increasingly a validation-service profile — many vendor programs verify eligibility through services like Percent or TechSoup rather than reviewing documents themselves. Register once with the validator your target vendors use and subsequent applications get dramatically faster.
Discounted tools or a consultant first?
Tools first, almost always — claim the discounted tiers you already qualify for, pick one workflow, and try the month-one plan in our fundraising guide. A consultant (us included) earns their fee after that, when you know which workflow resists your team's own efforts. Advice that starts with "buy nothing yet" is also how you can tell whether a consultant is selling you scope or solving your problem.
